    Aluminum sulfate white orthorhombic crystalline powder, density 1.69g/mL (25°C). In the paper industry, it is used as a precipitant for rosin glue, wax emulsion and other rubber materials, as a flocculant in water treatment, as an internal retention agent for foam fire extinguishers, as a raw material for the manufacture of alum and aluminum white, as a decolorizer for petroleum, as a deodorizer, for certain Drug raw materials, etc. Artificial gemstones and ammonium alum can also be produced.

    About 50% of the total output of aluminum sulfate is used for papermaking, and the second use is as a flocculant in drinking water, industrial water and industrial wastewater treatment, accounting for about 40% of the total output of aluminum sulfate. When aluminum sulfate is added to this type of water, colloidal flakes of aluminum hydroxide that can absorb and precipitate bacteria, colloids and other suspended matter can be formed, which can be used in drinking water treatment to control the color and taste of water.
